A hot summers day in The Dordogne, it’s hard to beat, add in a Dutch wedding and well, that just sounds like a perfect day for Wedding Photographers in France! Last July we headed over to France for Vincent and Josine’s wedding. Vincent and Josine got in touch with us only a couple of months before the wedding, thanks to Debbie and Chris and La Bonne fete. Thankfully we were still available as we were keeping that weekend free to spend our anniversary in The Dordogne, the stars had aligned!

The Wedding itself was held in a small village called Saint-Jean-de-Côle at Chateau de la Marthonie and the reception at Vincent’s parent’s stunning French home. Home is where we started our day, it was such a lovely laid back wedding. Vincent and Josine were surrounded by family and friends including their awesome little dudes as they got ready. Josine even had time to give Vinnie a quick shape up! We snapped away and really got to know everyone, this is our favourite thing about prep, we get to meet nearest and dearest and build a connection which ensures everyone is comfortable having us there all day.

The ceremony was held in the courtyard at the stunning Chateau de la Marthonie, in Saint-Jean-de-Côle. The village is very cute and we had lots of photo opportunities. Our eyes lit up when we saw it and we were like kids buzzing on sweets! Vincent’s sister held the ceremony, which was all in Dutch so we had no idea what she was saying, but we didn’t need to, we understood from the smiles, the tears and the laughter what was happening.

The drinks reception was in the courtyard where the couple and their guests enjoyed one of the things France does very well, Champagne! I’m sitting here writing this 7 months pregnant and cannot bloody wait to enjoy a glass (or bottle) again! Anyway back to the wedding, we slipped off during the reception for a moment to capture some awesome couple portraits, with a bottle of course! We had a little wander around the cute village. The bridge, river, flowers and charming buildings were the perfect back drop. We popped inside the chateau, which was being renovated, for a few more cheeky photos and then it was time to get down and dirty with the Croquembouche!!

After the drinks reception at the Chateau it was time to head back to the house for the drinks reception part 2 (these are our kind of people!) for canapes, some speeches, again – no idea what was said but everyone laughed and clapped and my bet’s on they were pretty good speeches.

Everyone then enjoyed a delicious meal, more wine, more speeches, more laughter and more fun!

Which saves the best bit until last….. PARTY TIME!!! The Dutch know how to party, you can see from the photos, the dance floor was craaaazy!!! Guests off all ages were rocking the dance floor – kids were break dancing, limbs were flying all over the place and some serious booty shaking was going down, thanks Beyonce!

We got stuck in, enjoyed a little drink, mingled, partied, oh and took some photos of course. We finally sloped off after midnight when our legs could no longer move, our hands were stuck into position as if they were gripping our cameras, our memory cards contained thousands of photos and we were slightly pissed! It was off to bed for us and ready to celebrate our anniversary the next day in the gorgeous town of Brantôme, we highly recommend a visit. Oh the perks of being a Wedding Photographers in France!

Thank you Vincent and Josine for having us, your wedding ROCKED!!
